3-methoxy derivatives of 1,5-benzothiazepines with a derivative, sugar, viz. β-D-ribofuranose-1-acetate-2,3,5-tribenzoate, in toluene in vacuo. The structures of all the synthesized ribofuranosides and their precursors have been characterized on the basis of elemental analyses and IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectral data.
