    An object of the present invention is to provide an α-olefin polymer having excellent molding property, in other words, having an improved ME. The present invention relates to a process for producing an α-olefin polymer comprising polymerizing an α-olefin in the presence of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst, wherein the polymerization is carried out at a polymerization temperature of 92°C or greater and under a condition that a hydrogen/α-olefin (molar ratio) gas composition upon polymerization and a melt flow rate (MFR: g/10 min) of the α-olefin polymer as measured at 230°C under a load of 2.16 kg satisfy the following formula [I]:Formula [I]:    Log (MFR) ≥ 1.5 x log (hydrogen/α-olefin) + 4.5.

    A catalyst having a high catalyst activity, which enables the production of an α-olefin polymer improved in stereoregularity by decreasing an amorphous component, and a production method for the α-olefin polymer, are developed. Described are a catalyst for polymerizing α-olefin comprising a combination of (A) asolidcatalyst component containing magnesium, titanium and a halogen as an essential component, which may contain if necessary, a silicon compound, an organoaluminum compound, and an electron donor; (B) an organoaluminum compound; and (C) a compound containing a C(=O)N bond such as an amide or an urea; which may further contain if necessary, (D) a silicon compound or a diether compound; and a production method for an α-olefin polymer using the same.
