The base-catalyzed addition of the optically active P-H phospholanes tarpholane and diopholane to olefins activated by diphenylphosphino or diphenylphosphinoyl groups gives unsymmetrical chelate phosphines which are used as cocatalysts in the hydrogenation of (Z)-alpha-N-acetamidocinnamic acid, in the cross-coupling of 1-phenylethyl Grignard with vinylbromide, and in the hydrosilylation of acetophenone with diphenylsilane.

A protocol for copper-catalyzed halogen exchange/C−P cross-coupling between (cyclo)alkenyl/arylbromides and secondary phosphine oxides has been developed. The addition of sodium iodide increases the yield of the cross-coupling by promoting in situ halogen exchange of organic bromides to the corresponding iodides.
Herein, we describe an efficient method for the synthesis of alkenylphosphine oxides via a Tf2O promoted addition–elimination process. Various diarylphosphine oxides and alkylarylphosphine oxides react with ketones smoothly and produce alkenylphosphine oxides in moderate to excellent yields with abundant functional group compatibility.
