Compounds of the formula C6F5MX3 (MSi, Ge; XCl, Br) react with XeF2, exchangingchlorine (bromine) atoms for fluorine. Interaction of C6F5MX3 (XF, Alk) with XeF2 inthe presence of BF3·OEt2 or with XeF+ NbF6- proceeds by the addition of two fluorineatoms to the pentafluorophenyl ring.
