  The present invention has an object to provide a method for producing particulate barium carbonate having desired properties such as high purity, fineness, and has a spherical shape. The present invention relates to a method of producing substantially spherical barium carbonate, including (A) mixing, in an aqueous medium, a barium compound with at least one first ingredient selected from the group consisting of gluconic acid or salts thereof, gluconolactone, glucoheptonic acid or salts thereof, and glucoheptonolactone, to prepare a mixture; and (B) reacting the barium compound with carbon dioxide or a water-soluble carbonate in the mixture, to produce substantially spherical barium carbonate.

In one example, a composite product can include a plurality of lignocellulose substrates and an at least partially cured, powdered binder. Prior to curing the powdered binder can include about 5 wt % to about 95 wt % of a powdered carbohydrate, and about 5 wt % to about 95 wt % of a powdered nitrogen-containing compound, where the weight percent values are based on a total weight of the powdered carbohydrate and the powdered nitrogen-containing compound. The powdered carbohydrate can include a monosaccharide, a disaccharide, or a mixture thereof. The powdered nitrogen-containing compound can include an ammonium compound, an alkylammonium compound, an amino acid, a hydrate thereof, a salt thereof, or any mixture thereof.

  Novel α-aminoacetamides are powerful stabilizers for organic materials subject to oxygen and heat degradation, and particularly for synthetic natural rubber, synthetic ester lubricants and synthetic resinous materials. A wide range of substituents on the amine and amide N atoms, at least one of which substituents is an alkylene imine (cyclic), and an even wider range of substituents on the saturated carbon atom, yields an array of stabilizers having a wide range of compatibility in compositions comprising various synthetic resinous compounds to be stabilized. Novel syntheses are provided utilizing at least one amine nucleophilic agent, a trichloromethide ion generating agent, and an alkoxide ion generating agent, which together in the presence of aqueous alkali and an onium salt, yield novel a-aminoacetamides in which a wide choice of substituents may be introduced. The nucleophilic agent may be a primary or secondary amine, or one of each. The trichloromethide ion generating agent is a haloform. The alkoxide ion generating agent may be a ketone, or an aldehyde which reacts with the haloform.
