    Synthesis of Thiohydroxamic Acids and Thiohydroximic Acid Derivatives
    摘要:
    An improved and expanded preparation of thiohydroxamic acids is reported along with a one-pot conversion of these compounds to novel thiohydroximic acid derivatives. A variety of aryl, heteroaryl, and alkyl substituents are well tolerated to provide a rapid approach to alkene-functionalized thiohydroximic acids that serve as potentially useful building blocks for organic synthesis.

    A metal complex of the general formula [R1CSNRO]xM(L)y where R and R1 are optionally substituted hydrocarbyl groups, M is a metal of Group IIIA to VA and IB to VIIB, with the exception of copper, L is a ligand, x has a value of 1 to 3 and y is zero or has a value of up to 4. The complex may be prepared by the reaction of a metal salt with an N-hydroxythiobenzamide. Complexes of this type have anti-microbial properties, and can be used as industrial biocides.

    A method for inhibiting perspiration comprises applying to a site at which perspiration is normally exuded, an antiperspirant of the formula ##SPC1## Or a salt thereof. In preferred compounds, A, B, D, E, and G are hydrogen and R is phenyl, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, aminoalkyl, alkenyl or oxopyridyl. Also useful are the corresponding hydrohalic acid salts. The compounds are preferably applied to the human axillae as aqueous antiperspirant compositions containing a surface active agent. Some of the S-substituted benzothiohydroximic acids and hydrohalic acid salts are new compounds of especially good antiperspirant activities, e.g., those in which the R group is linear alkyl of 6 to 9 carbon atoms, lower aminoalkyl, lower hydroxyalkyl, 1-oxopyridyl, and the hydrochloric acid salts of the compounds in which R is lower aminoalkyl.

    Corrosion-inhibiting pigments based on manganese are described that contain a trivalent or tetravalent manganese/valence stabilizer complex. An inorganic or organic material is used to stabilize the trivalent or tetravalent manganese ion to form a compound that is sparingly soluble, exhibits low solubility, or is insoluble in water, depending upon the intended usage. Specific stabilizers are chosen to control the release rate of trivalent or tetravalent manganese during exposure to water and to tailor the compatibility of the powder when used as a pigment in a chosen binder system. Stabilizers may also modify the processing and handling characteristics of the formed powders. Manganese/valence stabilizer combinations are chosen based on the well-founded principles of manganese coordination chemistry. Many manganese-valence stabilizer combinations are presented that can equal the performance of conventional hexavalent chromium or tetravalent lead systems. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract which will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure.
