Reduction of NiX2(PPh3)2 with zinc in the presence of Et4NI gives a nickel catalyst which has been proven to be useful for the coupling of aryl halides. This nickel catalyst can be prepared in THF without an additional triphenylphosphine and is effective for the homocoupling of aryl chlorides, bromides, and iodides to produce biaryls and bipyridines in good yields. The reported new approach provides a simple access to novel derivatives of biaryls and bipyridines.
A deep eutectic solvent (DES) based on glycerol and KF is successfully exploited as a solvent medium in Ullmann homocoupling of arenediazonium salts. Developed is a technique according to which a nitrogen-containing bicyclic heterocyclic compound can be manufactured directly from nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds in a short period of time through a small number of steps without using expensive agents and a starting material that takes time and effort to synthesize. A method for manufacturing a nitrogen-containing bicyclic heterocyclic compound includes a synthesis step of synthesizing a nitrogen-containing bicyclic heterocyclic compound such as bipyrimidine, bipyrazine, or biquinoline by reacting, in a reaction solvent, one nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound and another nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound with a solution containing an alkali metal.
A convenient synthetic route to bis-heteroaromatic and bis-heterocyclic compounds promoted by liganded nickel complex reducing agents.
