Gold-catalyzed difunctionalizations of o-alkynylbenzenesulfonamides with aryldiazonium salts are reported herein. An unprecedented in situ SO2-capture cascade triggered by alkylradicals has been documented herein. Mechanistic investigations suggest that, triggered by alkylradicals, SO2 was released in situ and subsequently fixed into polycyclic small molecules. A wide range of alkylsulfonyl substituted polycyclic compounds were easily prepared with high yields and good functional group tolerability.

3‐diarylated indoles is reported. The reaction follows an intramolecular electrophilic N−H and C−H bond functionalization between the aniline and acetylene. This methodology employs the concept of a traceless tether to provide access to the free 2,3‐diarylated indole products comprising a total of 18 examples. Hypervalent iodine reagents were identified as suitable promoters and four different protocols
