Monoamine oxidases (MAOs) catalyze the oxidative deamination of neurotransmitters and biogenic amines. A new class of activity‐based fluorescent probes based on the alkylation of 2‐(2′‐hydroxyphenyl)‐4(3 H)‐quinazolinone (HPQ) with primary, secondary, or tertiary amines is presented for real‐time imaging of MAO activity in living cells.
