  Provided is a Ralstonia eutropha cell which is able to form at least one rhamnolipid, wherein the cell has ben transfected with at least one vector comprising (a) rhlA, rhlB and rhlC genes from Pseudomonas aeruginosa; and (b) xylA, xylB, xylF, xylG and xylH genes from Pseudomonas fluorescens Pf01; wherein the genes may be present on the same vector or on different vectors. In some embodiments, endogenous phaA, phaB and phaC genes have been deleted from the genome of the cell. In further embodiments, the cell is incapable of producing poly(3-hydroxyalkanoates). Also provided are methods for producing rhamnolipids in Ralstonia eutropha cells. Further provided are vectors for transfecting Ralstonia eutropha cells for the production of rhamnolipids.
