A sensitive analytical method for the quantification of malodourous hydrogen sulfide (H2 S) and methanethiol (CH3 SH) was developed and validated. The method consisted of solid-phase microextraction with concomitant in-fibre derivatisation of the mercaptan using N-ethylmaleimide.
