    A process for producing a substituted phthalic acid which comprises heating a substituted tetrahydrophthalic acid compound having a substituent in at least one of the 3-, 4-, 5- and 6-positions in the presence of sulfur to dehydrogenate it, and heat-treating the product in the presence of water optionally together with an organic solvent. As required, the heat-treated product is dehydrocyclized to form a substituted phthalic acid anhydride.

    To provide a propylene-based block copolymer which has high melt viscoelasticity, excellent balance between rigidity and impact resistance and goodmoldingprocessablility and is extremely excellent in its molded product appearance, a composition containing the copolymer and molded products obtained therefrom. The propylene-based block copolymer comprises 5 to 80% by weight of a room temperature n-decane-soluble portion (Dsol) and 20 to 95% by weight of a room temperature n-decane-insoluble portion (Dinsol), with the proviso that the total amount of the Dsol and the Dinsol is 100% by weight, and satisfies the following requirements [1] to [3] at the same time: [1] the molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of the Dsol is not less than 7. 0 but not more than 30, [2] the molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of the Dinsol is not less than 7.0 but not more than 30, and Mz/Mw thereof is not less than 6.0 but not more than 20, and [3] the pentad fraction (mmmm) of the Dinsol is not less than 93%.

    Disclosed is a method of simultaneously stabilizing an engine coolant concentrate and preventing hard water salt for formation upon dilution of the coolant concentrate with hard water. The method comprises making a stabilized concentrate by adding to a coolant concentrate at least one stabilizer selected from the group consisting of polyacrylate polymers of the formula: where R 1 is H; R 4 is a terminating group; X is and R 2 and R 3 are each independently hydrogen, an alkali earth metal or an alkaline earth metal, and the start of m and n provide a number average equivalent weight of less than 6500, and a number average molecular weight of less than 6500, the concentrate comprising 90 or more wt % freezing point depressant and then diluting the stabilized coolant concentrate with hard water to provide a final coolant composition.

    Disclosed are coolants comprising brazed metal corrosion inhibitors. In one embodiment, the disclosed brazed metal corrosion inhibitor will comprise a polycarboxylic acid functional compound having the structure: wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , and R 4 are each independently selected from the group consisting of H, OH, COOH, C 1 -C 10 alkyl groups, glycol esters, anhydride groups, —COOM, and combinations thereof, wherein M is at least one of H, alkali metal ions, alkali earth metal ions, NH4 + , amines, imidazoline, polyalcohol esters, C1 to C12 alkyl groups, and combinations thereof; wherein (1) at least three of R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , and R 4 contain the group —COOM, wherein M is defined above; or (2) at least two of R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , and R 4 contain an anhydride group, and at least one of R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , and R 4 contain the group —COOM, wherein M is defined above.

    A catalyst for olefin polymerization of the present invention includes a solid titanium catalyst component (I) including titanium, magnesium, halogen, and a cyclic ester compound (a) represented by the following formula (1): wherein n is an integer of 5 to 10; R 2 and R 3 are each independently COOR 1 or R, and at least one of R 2 and R 3 is COOR 1 ; a single bond (excluding C a —C a bonds, and a C a —C b bond in the case where R 3 is R) in the cyclic backbone may be replaced with a double bond; a plurality of R 1 's are each independently a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; and a plurality of R's are each independently a hydrogen atom or a substituent, but at least one of R's is not a hydrogen atom, and an organometal compound catalyst component (II). When this catalyst for olefin polymerization is used, an olefin polymer having a broad molecular weight distribution can be produced.
