    Chirazyme L-2 (Candida antarctica) catalyzed esterification of glycerol with aromatic and aliphatic anhydrides in 1,4-dioxane is described. All the aromatic monoacylglycerols (MAGs) were produced as (R)-enantiomers, while aliphatic MAGs were obtained either as racemic mixtures or the (S)-enantiomers. The influence of substituted aromatic rings, chain length, and presence of a conjugated double bond in the acyl donor moiety on the enantiotopic selectivity as well as the efficiency of the enzyme was studied.     Herein disclosed are a filler surface modifier which comprises a phosphoric ester and/or pyrophosphoric ester having a substituent group with a terminal double bond, a filler treated with such a surface modifier, and an unsaturated polyester resin composition and an acrylic resin composition blended with such a surface-treated filler. Such a filler surface modifier eventually not only can increase strength of, namely, provide rigidity for, unsaturated polyester resins filled with CaCO₃ and the like fillers and acrylic resins filled with Al(OH)₃ and the like fillers, but also can reduce viscosity of such resins before curing, thus resulting in improved processability and high filling capacity.

    The present invention provides: a novel water-soluble copolymer which is still more excellent in performance for uses, such as detergent builders, pigment dispersants, and scale inhibitors. In addition, the present invention provides: a novel liquid detergent builder which has extremely excellent compatibility, high transparency when a liquid detergent composition comprises it, and very excellent detergency; and a novel liquid detergent composition comprising the liquid detergent builder. The water-soluble copolymer, according to the present invention, is a novel water-soluble copolymer obtained by copolymerizing comonomers essentially including: an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid monomer (1); an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid monomer (2); and an unsaturated alcoholic monomer (3) having specific structures, with the copolymer being characterized in that: the residual amount of the unsaturated dicarboxylic acid monomer is not more than 8 weight %, and the residual amount of the unsaturated alcoholic monomer is not more than 45 weight %. The liquid detergent builder, according to the present invention, comprises a water-soluble copolymer obtained by copolymerizing comonomers essentially including an unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer having a specific structure and an unsaturated alcoholic monomer having a specific structure. In addition, the liquid detergent composition, according to the present invention, comprises the liquid detergent builder according to the present invention.

    An object of the present invention is to provide a three-monomer-based water-soluble copolymer, obtained from an unsaturated monocarboxylic monomer, an unsaturated dicarboxylic monomer, and an unsaturated alcoholic monomer, wherein the water-soluble copolymer can sufficiently exercise excellent performances particularly when used for detergent builders, detergent compositions, water-treating agents, and dispersants. As a means of achieving this object, the water-soluble copolymer according to the present invention has: an unsaturated alcoholic monomer-derived structural unit content of 0.1 to 40 weight % (but not including 40 weight %); and a product of not less than 200 of the calcium-ion-binding ability and the clay dispersibility (which is measured in an aqueous solution having a calcium ion content of 50 ppm in terms of calcium carbonate) under conditions of solid component content = 40 weight % and pH = 7.5.

    An object of the present invention is to provide a polymer which is suitable as a detergent builder in that it exerts an excellent detergency and it has no adverse effect on the environment, and is suitable as a cement admixture in that it is excellent in cement dispersibility, and workability is better. As a means of achieving this object, a polymer of the present invention is: a polymer obtained by a polymerization reaction using a polyaminepolyether compound, an unsaturated carboxylic monomer and polyalkylene glycols as a raw material, characterized in that an amount of a polyaminepolyether compound is 50% by weight or larger relative to a total amount of a polyaminepolyether compound and polyalkylene glycols; or a polymer obtained by a polymerization reaction using a polyaminepolyether compound and an unsaturated carboxylic monomer as a raw material, characterized in that an amount of an unsaturated carboxylic monomer is less than 15% by weight relative to a total amount of a polyaminepolyether compound and an unsaturated carboxylic monomer, or an unsaturated carboxylic monomer contains acrylic acid as an essential component, and an amount of remaining acrylic acid after the reaction is less than 3% by weight.
