1-(N-Nitrosoalkylamino)benzimidazoles (7a-e) were prepared by nitrosation of the parent amines with nitrous acid. The NMR data revealed 7a-d in solutions as mixtures of E and Z-isomers due to hindered rotation around the NNO bond. 1-(N-Nitrosoisopropylamino)benzimidazole (7e) existed in solutions as a sole Z-isomer. The rotation barrier around the NNO bond was estimated for 7a by 1H NMR dynamic spectroscopy

Provided is a method for treating a plant comprising contacting said plant with at least one composition (i) comprising at least one cyclopropene and contacting said non-citrus plant with at least one composition (ii) comprising at least one plant growth regulator that is not a cyclopropene. Further provided is a liquid composition suitable for treating plants comprising at least one cyclopropene, at least one plant growth regulator that is not a cyclopropene, and one or more further ingredients selected from the group consisting of metal complexing agents, surfactants, hydrocarbon oils, and alcohols.
A composition is provided that contains one or more cyclopropene and that contains one or more of
(AA) one or more plant growth regulator that is not a cyclopropene, or
(BB) one or more adjuvant selected from the group consisting of one or more surfactants, one or more alcohols, one or more oils, and mixtures thereof, or
(CC) one or more mixture of said (AA) and said (BB).
Also provided is a method that includes the step of contacting such compositions to one or more plants or plant parts.
Provided are methods of treating specific crop plants when those plants have reached specific developmental stages. Also provided is a method for improving the yield of a crop produced by a plurality of plants, which may or may not be any of the specific plants mentioned herein above, wherein said method comprises contacting said plants with at least one composition that comprises at least one cyclopropene.
