  (EN) Herbicidal 3-substituted pyridine compounds and derivatives thereof of formula (I) wherein Ar is a substituted or unsubstituted 5- or 6-membered heteroaryl group having 1, 2 or 3 ring nitrogen atoms with the remainder of the ring atoms being carbon; a substituted or unsubstituted 5-membered heteroaryl group having a ring heteroatom of oxygen or sulfur with the remainder of the ring atoms being carbon; or a substituted or unsubstituted 5-membered heteroaryl group having one ring nitrogen atom and either an oxygen or sulfur ring heteroatom with the remainder of the ring atoms being carbon. Herbicidal compositions containing such 3-substituted pyridine compounds and derivatives thereof and methods of controlling undesirable vegetation employing these compounds and derivatives are also disclosed. The compounds in which XR is hydroxyl are also useful as intermediates for producing the disclosed 3-substituted pyridine derivatives.(FR) On décrit des herbicides à base de composés de pyridine 3-substitués, et leurs dérivés, de formule (I) où Ar représente un groupe hétéroaryle à 5 ou 6 membres, substitué ou non, qui présente 1, 2 ou 3 atomes d'azote d'un cycle, le reste des atomes de ce cycle étant du carbone; un groupe hétéroaryle à 5 membres, substitué ou non, doté d'un hétéroatome d'oxygène ou de soufre d'un cycle, le reste des atomes de ce cycle étant du carbone; ou bien un groupe hétéroaryle à 5 membres, substitué ou non, doté d'un atome d'hydrogène d'un cycle et d'un hétéroatome d'oxygène ou de soufre d'un cycle, le reste des atomes de ce cycle étant un carbone. On décrit aussi des compositions herbicides contenant ces composés de pyridine 3-substitués et leurs dérivés et des procédés de pyridine 3-substitués et leurs dérivés et des procédés de lutte contre la végétation indésirable avec ces composés et dérivés. Ceux des composés où XR représente hydroxyle servent aussi d'intermédiaires pour produire les dérivés de pyridine 3-substitués décrits.
