A series of stable anilinodimesitylboranes was synthesized. Their mass spectra and nuclear magnetic resonance spectra were studied. The photocyclization of these compounds in the presence of iodine is accompanied by a facile 1,2-methylmigration. The structure of the products has been assigned on the basis of spectral evidence and degradation studies.
