The stereospecific oxidation of hydrazine into cis-diimide and the catalytic disproportionation of hydrogen peroxide effected by selenoxides are suggested to involve a dissociative cycloelimination from an intermediary selenurane.

A metal-free, one-pot selenium mediated electrophiliccyclization reaction of alkynes and triflic anhydride-activated selenoxides was realized, giving selenium containing dihydronaphthalene products, including selenium-substituted phenanthrene, dihydroquinoline, 2H-chromene, and coumarin.

Olefins are catalytically oxidized to glycols by osmium tetroxide in the presence of organic selenoxide cooxidants. Glycols were obtained in good yields from mono-, di-, tri- and tetrasubstituted olefins.
