    Preparation of New Microgel Polymers and Their Application as Supports in Organic Synthesis
    摘要:
    A series of soluble microgel polymers have been synthesized using solution-phase polymerization reactions. In a systematic manner, several variables such as monomer concentration, cross-linker content, reaction solvent and reaction time were examined, and this provided an optimal polymer with both solubility and precipitation characteristics suitable for synthetic applications. Thus, a chemically functionalized microgel polymer was synthesized, and the utility of this polymer in the synthesis of a small array of oxazole compounds has been demonstrated. The advantage of the microgel polymers produced was that they exhibited solution viscosities lower than those of conventional linear polymers even at higher concentrations, and this was found to be beneficial for their precipitation properties. Compounds prepared using the described microgel polymer supports were obtained in similar yields and purity when compared with insoluble resins, and more importantly, the soluble polymer bound intermediates could be analyzed at each step using standard NMR techniques.

    A group of polymers comprising a plurality of polyolefin chains and polar polymer chains and having a multi-branched structure such as a block structure, a graft structure and a star-shaped structure is produced efficiently by polymerizing or reacting a combination of various polar monomers and their polymers i.e. polar polymer chains by using a functional group-containing polyolefin as a macroinitiator, a macromonomer or a reactive polymer. The resulting multi-branched polymer has a specific shape such as a block structure, a graft structure or a star-shaped structure, and has properties of both the polyolefin and polar polymer, thus exhibiting useful performance in various uses in films and compatibilizing agents as a novel polyolefin-based polymer.

    A novel graft polymer useful in various uses that has a polyolefin backbone having polyolefin segments excellent in moldability can be obtained by homopolymerizing a novel polyolefin macromonomer or polymerizing the novel polyolefin macromonomer in the coexistence of other olefins depending on need, wherein the macromonomer has at the terminal of its polyolefin chain a vinyl group whose &agr;-position may be substituted, and the macromonomer can be efficiently obtained by a method, for example, successively carrying out i) a step of producing a polyolefin having a hydroxyl group at the terminal of the polyolefin chain and ii) a step of converting the terminal hydroxyl group of the polyolefin in chain into an acryloyl group, a methacryloyl group or a styryl group.

    There is disclosed a process for continuously and efficiently producing a styrenic polymer having a high degree of syndiotactic configuration which comprises effecting polymerization reaction by continuously introducing a styrenic monomer and a polymerization catalyst into a polymerization reactor, the inside of which has been brought into fluidized state by particles previously fed therein, which process is characterized in that the polymerization reactor temperature is controlled by vaporizing a part of the styrenic monomer which has been introduced into the polymerization reactor, while the inside of the reactor is maintained under reduced pressure. According to the above process, such problems as difficulty in polymerization reactor scale-up, adhesion of polymer to the reactor inside and polymer particle agglomerate are simultaneously solved, and thereby the industrial significance of the process is remarkably enhanced.

    An object is to provide a heat-shrinkabie polystyrene film that is high in shrinkability in the longitudinal direction that is its main shrinkage direction, excellent in perforated line openability, and has high toughness. The main shrinkage direction of a heat-shrinkable polystyrene film of the present invention is in a longitudinal direction. The hot-water heat shrinkage ratio in the longitudinal direction when the film is treated in hot water at 90°C for 10 seconds; the hot-water heat shrinkage ratio in a width direction when the film is treated in hot water at 90°C for 10 seconds; the right angle tear strength in the width direction per unit thickness after the film is shrunk by 10% in the longitudinal direction in hot water at 80°C; and the breaking energies in the longitudinal direction and the width direction, are each adjusted in a predetermined range.
