Lipid-Based Nanotubes as Functional Architectures with Embedded Fluorescence and Recognition Capabilities

A limited combinatorial strategy was used to synthesize a small library of soft lipid-based materials ranging from structurally unordered fibers to highly uniform nanotubes. The latter nanotubes are comprised of a bilayer structure with interdigitated alkyl chains associated through hydrophobic interactions. These tubes contain accessible 2,6-diaminopyridine linkers that can interact with thymidine and related nucleosides through multipoint hydrogen bonding, thereby quenching the intrinsic fluorescence of the aromatic linker. These results are the first example of a systematic strategy to design functional lipid nanotubes with precise structural and functional features.

A thermosensitive reversible color-developing and disappearing agent includes an aromatic compound having at least one group of the formula, -SO₂NHCXNH-, wherein X = O or S atom, and at least one straight chain alkyl group with 11 or more carbon atoms, and is reactive with a dye precursor in a thermosensitive recording material to thereby record colored images on the recording material upon heating imagewise, and make the colored images disappear upon heating to a temperature lower than the colored image-forming temperature.

A biosensor chip includes a substrate, a polymer having an anionic functional group and being arranged on a surface of the substrate, a polyamino group which is directly or indirectly bound to the anionic functional group at a surface of the polymer, and a long-chain alkyl-based group which is directly or indirectly bound to the anionic functional group at the surface of the polymer. Therefore, the biosensor chip can immobilize a bioactive material on the surface of the biosensor chip without influence of electric charge repulsion.
