The structure of a novel peptide analogue saropeptate, N-benzoyl-L-phenylalanyl-L-phenylalaninol acetate, isolated from the whole plant of H. japonicum was elucidated by spectroscopic analysis and its absolute configuration determined by comparison with four synthetic diastereoisomers.
