Disclosed herein is a dye composition comprising an indole-derived styryl dye comprising an alkylene linker, and a dyeing process with, for example, a lightening effect on keratin materials such as hair, using said composition. Disclosed herein are novel indole-derived styryl dyes comprising an alkylene linker and the uses thereof in lightening keratin materials.
