  In the title compound, [HgCl2(C15H11N3)], the Hg atom is coordinated by three N atoms from terpyridine at distances of 2.372(4), 2.396(5) and 2.430 (5) Angstrom and by two Cl atoms at distances of 2.419 (2) and 2.486 (2) Angstrom, forming an irregular five-coordinate polyhedron.
