Diamine derivatives of quinones, and related compounds, including salts thereof, that modulate the levels of gene expression in cellular systems, such as cancer cells, are disclosed, along with methods for preparing such compounds and derivatives, as well as pharmaceutical compositions containing these compounds and derivatives as active ingredients. Methods of using these as compounds and derivatives as therapeutic agents are also described.
The present application is directed to a method for preparing an amino and hydroxyl-functional polyester, said method comprising: i) preparing an unsaturated polyester by the polycondensation reaction, optionally in the presence of a catalyst, of reactants comprising or consisting of at least one diol and at least one α,β-ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid or anhydride thereof, wherein said polycondensation reaction is characterized by a stoichiometric excess of hydroxyl groups to carboxyl groups; and, ii) reacting, by conjugate addition, said unsaturated polyester with at least one polyamine, said polyamine having at least one primary amine group and at least one secondary amine group.
