  Dendritic, polynuclear, metal complexes are used as new luminescent labels for immunoassays and DNA probes by means of electrochemiluminescence. The dendritic polynuclear molecules are composed of multiple luminophors which are preferably ruthenium (II) tris(bipyridyl) complexes, [Ru(bpy) 3 ] 2+ , which define the peripheral or terminal moieties of the dendritic molecules.

  (EN) Electrochemiluminescent label compounds containing multimetallic centers separated by bridging ligands are described. An example of a multimetallic electrochemiluminescent label suitable for use in electrochemiluminescence (ECL) methods [(bpy)2Ru]2(bphb)4+, demonstrates ECL efficiencies 2 to 3 times greater than those for Ru(bpy)32+ in acetonitrile and aqueous media. Such multimetallic ECL compounds may be especially useful in the design of new labels for bioanalytical applications, such as immunoassays and DNA probes.(FR) L'invention se rapporte à des composés marqueurs électrochimiluminescents renfermant des centres multimétalliques séparés par des ligands de pontage. Un exemple de marqueur électrochimiluminescent multimétallique pouvant être utilisé dans des procédés d'électrochimiluminescence (ECL), [(bpy)2Ru]2(bphb)4+, démontre que le rendement de l'ECL est de 2 à 3 fois supérieur à celui obtenu avec le Ru(bpy)32+ dans de l'acétonitrile et des milieux aqueux.
