Catalytic reduction of chiral 2-(2-pyridyl)-1,3-oxazolidines and 2-pyridyl imines derived from (R)-phenylglycinol and (R)-valinol afforded high diasteriomeric selectivity. Upon oxidative cleavage, the S- primary amine with high ee was obtained.
