A keto-enolic tautomerism is present in ring C of ferruginins, as demonstrated by chemical and physico-chemical methods. In particular, spectroscopic data of ferruginins, vismiones and their derivatives are reported and discussed. This study constitutes the first report on the application of 13C NMR spectroscopy to this type of structure.
