The invention comprises compounds of the formula <;FORM:0939947/IV(a)/1>; (wherein R is an alkylene radical of 2 to 5 carbon atoms, R1 is an alkyl or alkenyl radical of at most 4 carbon atoms or an aralkyl radical of at most 8 carbon atoms, R11 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical of at most 4 carbon atoms or -NR1R11 is the residue of a saturated, heterocyclic, 5- or 6-membered ring, and R111 is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic radical or an alkoxy radical of at most 4 carbon atoms which can be substituted by alkyl or alkoxy radicals of at most 4 carbon atoms) and acid-addition salts thereof; and their preparation by acylation of the corresponding N-(substituted aminoalkyl)-aminopyridines. Acylation may be effected with carboxylic acid halides or anhydrides, haloformic acid alkyl esters or pyrocarbonic acid alkyl esters. Examples are given. N-(NR1R11-Alkyl)-amino-pyridines are prepared from aminopyridines and NR1R11-alkyl halides.;FORM:0939947/IV(a)/1>
