  The invention comprises derivatives of isonicotinyl-hydrazine of the general formula <;FORM:0714230/IV (b)/1>; wherein R1 and R2 are identical or different and stand for alkyl, alkenyl or aryl groups or the radical N(R1)R2 stands for a saturated six-membered heterocyclic ring, and acid addition salts thereof obtained, for example, by treating the free base with acids such as hydrochloric, hydrobromic, nitric, sulphuric, phosphoric, ethanesulphonic and tartaric acid. The compounds are prepared by reacting an isonicotinic acid halide or an acid addition salt thereof, preferably isonicotinic acid chloride hydrochloride, with a substituted hydrazine of the general formula <;FORM:0714230/IV (b)/2>; preferably in the presence of an acid binding agent or acid acceptor, e.g. pyridine. The examples describe the preparation of 1-isonicotinyl - 2,2 - dimethyl - hydrazine, 1 - isonicotinyl - 2,2 - diethyl - hydrazine, 1 - isonicotinyl-2,2 - [pentamethylene - (11,51)] - hydrazine, 1-isonicotinyl - 2,2-[31 - oxa - pentamethylene-(11,51)] - hydrazine, 1 - isonicotinyl - 2,2 - diphenyl - hydrazine, 1 - isonicotinyl - 2 - butyl-2 - isopropyl - hydrazine, 1 - isonicotinyl - 2-methyl - 2- isopropyl-hdrazine, 1-isonicotinyl-2 - allyl - 2 - isopropyl - hydrazine, and in most cases the hydrochlorides thereof.
