  This report describes a simple two-phase process for the oxidation of benzo[b]thiophene, the generation of aromatic nitriloxides, the cycloaddition of the latter with the oxidized benzo[b]thiophene and the halogenation of the cycloadducts. All these reactions can be effected in a one-pot procedure.
