  (EN) Compounds of formulae (I), (II) wherein X is an optionally substituted benzyl group which carries an NO2 group in the ortho-position, Z is a group of formula $g(a) or $g(b), R, R' and Y are each optionally substituted groups, R'' is hydrogen or alkyl, m and n are each integers of from 1 to 6, and q is an integer of from 1 to 20, and salts thereof. These protected or caged organic compounds, based on the dyes fluorescein (I) and rhodamine (II), can be introduced into biological systems and there released by means of light radiation. They are suitable, for example, for use in the labelling of proteins or lipophilic structures. Processes for the preparation of the compounds are also described.(FR) Composés des formules suivantes: (I), (II) où X représente un groupe éventuellement substitué qui porte un groupe NO2 dans la position ortho, Z représente un groupe de la formule $g(a) ou $g(b), R, R' et Y représentent chacun des groupes éventuellement substitués, R'' représente hydrogène ou alkyle, m et n représentent chacun des nombres entiers compris entre 1 et 6, et q représente un nombre entier compris entre 1 et 20, et des sels de ces composés. Ces composés organiques protégés ou en cage, basés sur les colorants fluorescéine (I) et rhodamine (II), peuvent être introduits dans des systèmes biologiques et y être libérés au moyen de rayonnements lumineux. Ils conviennent, par exemple, au marquage des protéines et structures lipophiles. Des procédés de préparation des composés sont aussi décrits.
