Two derivatives of propylenedioxy-substituted terthiophene–fullerene dyads were prepared as the precursors for polythiophene with fullerene side chains. By the chemical coupling reaction of the dyad, the soluble polythiophene 8 was obtained, Gel-permeation chromatography analysis showed that the average molecular weight was approximately 10,847 g/mol, and the polydispersity was 1.3 in THF against polystyrene
