    A one-pot synthesis of cyclic carbodiimides which involves reaction of C,C-bis(aryliminophosphoranes) connected by aliphatic bridges with Boc(2)O in the presence of DMAP is described. The method is also applicable when a heteroatom such as oxygen or nitrogen is incorporated into the tether connecting the two aromatic rings. A conformation study has been carried out on carbodiimide 23a, which posseses a central nine-membered ring, using H-1 NMR spectroscopy and semiempirical as well as molecular mechanics calculations.

    The present invention relates to a substance-immobilizing substrate for immobilizing a substance to be detected by chemiluminescence. The substance-immobilizing substrate of the present invention comprises a metal portion composed of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of chromium and molybdenum, or an alloy of the metal on at least a portion of a surface of the substrate. The present invention further relates to a substance-immobilized substrate wherein a substance is immobilized on the substance-immobilizing substrate. The substance is immobilized on the metal portion and the substrate is used for detecting the immobilized substance by chemiluminescence. The present invention further relates to an analysis method comprising directly or indirectly detecting by chemiluminescence a substance that is immobilized on a substrate. The substrate comprises a metal portion composed of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of chromium and molybdenum, or an alloy of the metal on at least a portion of a surface of the substrate, and the substance is immobilized on the metal portion.

    Compositions comprising fluoroelastomers having copolymerized units of a cyano-containing cure site monomer are cured (i.e. crosslinked) with certain aromatic diazide curatives. The crosslinks are tetrazole rings formed by the reaction of the aromatic diazide with pendant cyano groups on the fluoroelastomer.
