A new benzohydrazone compound, N′-(3-bromo-2-hydro xybenzylidene)-4-nitrobenzohydrazide (H2L), and its oxovanadium(V) complex, 2[VOL(BHA)]·CH3CN, where HBHA is benzohydroxamic acid, was prepared and structurally characterized by physicochemical methods and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The benzohydrazone compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c, with a = 11.2211(15), b = 13.5515(18)
