The article describes approaches for the synthesis and analysis of isotopically (2H, 3H, 13C, 14C, 35S) labelleddrugs necessary for the development of a pharmacologically active compound into a registered drug.
X=Y–ZH system as potential 1,3-dipoles. Part 59: Cascade 1,3-azaprotio cyclotransfer–1,3-dipolar cycloaddition (1,3-APT–1,3-DC) reactions of benzobicyclo[3.3.1]non-5-en-9-one oxime
spiro-oxazolidines related to 3, which is known to posses anorectic and antidepressant activity, via 1,3-APT–1,3-DC cascades of the oxime of benzobicyclo[3.3.1]non-5-en-9-one 1 is described. Substrate 1 allows the influence of the two bridges on the cascade to be assessed with respect to the configuration of the nitrone that is generated and the facial selectivity of the subsequent cycloaddition.
A Molecular Chameleon: Chair and Twist-Boat Conformations of a 5,9-Methanobenzo[8]annulene

A molecule that can change shape to suit its environment (a ''molecular chameleon'') is described. In solution there is an equilibrium between a compact chair conformation and an extended twist-boat conformation, Polar aprotic solvents favor the folded conformation (57% folded, 43% extended in DMSO-d(6) at 50 degrees C) and nonpolar solvents favor the extended conformation (100% extended in CDCl3).
