  This invention relates to a novel class of arylsulfonylureidofuro[2,3-d]pyrimidines, such as N'-[(4,6-dimethylfuro[2,3-d]pyrimidin-2-yl)aminocarbonyl]-N,N-dimethylbenz ene-1,2-sulfonamide, and their use as herbicides and plant growth regulants.   Pyridinesulfonamides of a general formula and their agriculturally suitable salts wherein: R1 and R2 are H or various substituents; R3 and R. are independently H or CH3; W is O or S: and R is a pyrimidyl or triazinyl residue which may be substituted; are of interest as herbicides for preemergence or post- emergence application and for regulating plant growth.
