Cluster Assembly by Hydrogen Bonds: Channel Structure of Cu4L4 Cubanes
摘要:
A high‐spin ground state characterizes the cubane complex, which was obtained from copper(II) acetate monohydrate and the bridging ligand 2‐(4‐hyroxysalicylidenamino)ethanol. In the crystal these cubane clusters are arranged to give a channel structure (depicted on the right), which is attributed to a hydrogen‐bonding network formed between hydroxyl groups and water molecules.
Thiol-yne click on nano-starch: An expedient approach for grafting of oxo-vanadium Schiff base catalyst and its use in the oxidation of alcohols
摘要:
The metal-free stoichiometric click reaction between thiol-functionalized nanocrystalline starch and yne-functional oxo-vanadium Schiff base has been demonstrated to be a simple, quantitative, mild and efficient approach for the development of heterogenized homogeneous complex via covalent bonding. The developed catalyst has found to be highly efficient and recyclable for the oxidation of various alcohols to corresponding carbonyl compounds with t-BuOOH under mild reaction conditions. Importantly, no leaching of metal or ligand is observed during the course of the reaction. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
Reactions of Ni(CH3COO)2·4H2O and NiCl2·6H2O with Schiffbaseligands yielded di and tetranuclear nickel(II) complexes of [Ni2(Hhsae)2(CH3COO)2(MeOH)2] (1) and [Ni4(sae)4(MeOH)4] (2) (H2hsae=2-(5-hydroxysalicylideneamino)ethanol and H2sae=2-salicylideneaminoethanol). Magnetic susceptibility measurements revealed that 1 and 2 have singlet and nonet spin ground states, respectively.

Reaction between (Co-2(mu-OH2)(mu-Piv)(2)(Piv)(2)(HPiv)(4)] and a (salicylidene)ethanolamine ligand under ambient reaction conditions, affords hexanuclear complexes [(Co2Co4II)-Co-III(Piv)(8)(HPiv)(2)(L)(2)(OH)(2)] (1-2). Both products have been characterized crystallographically and found to be mixed-valent, containing divalent and trivalent Co centers. Down to 30 K, the variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility data are dominated by the single-ion properties of high spin Co(II) centers with distorted-octahedral coordination geometries. Below this temperature, the effect of intramolecular ferromagnetic exchange interactions becomes apparent. Magnetic data has been analyzed in terms of ground isolated effective (S) over bar = 1/2 Kramers doublets where low temperature magnetization data suggests an anisotropic behavior. We have also employed OFT-broken symmetry calculations to evaluate in an isotropic approach the exchange interaction pathways. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
Structures and magnetic properties of copper(II), nickel(II) and manganese(II) cubes are presented. In the cubes, four metal ions are assembled into the cubes by tridentate Schiff base ligands. Magnetic succeptibility measurements revealed the copper and nickel cubes have high-spin ground state, while the manganese cube has a S = 0 spin ground state. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd.
