  Pyrazine (Pz) bridged benzyl dicobaloximes [ArCH2Co(dioxime)(2)](2)-mu-Pz [dioxime = dmgH, dpgH] have been synthesized and characterized with H-1 and C-13 NMR. The complexes have been synthesized by a simple procedure in one-pot directly from the corresponding benzyl aqua cobaloxime. In the crystal structure of [PhCH2Co(dpgH)(2)](2)-mu-Pz, two cobaloxime units are in eclipsed form whereas they were completely staggered in the reported [EtCo(dpgH)(2)](2)-mu-Pz. This is due to the pi-pi interaction between the axial benzyl group and phenyl ring of the equatorial dpgH group. Both cis and trans isomer crystallized together in the crystal structure of [PhCH2Co(dpgH)(dmgH)](2)-mu-Pz. The cyclic voltammetry study in [PhCH2Co(dioxime)(2)](2)-mu-Pz [dioxime = dmgH, dpgH] shows two cobalt center mixed together due to electron delocalization through pyrazine and behaves like a monocobaloxime and the reduction potentials are much higher than the monocobaloximes.   BenzylCo(dmgH)(dpgH)Py has been synthesized by the reaction of benzyl chloride with a mixture of Co-1(dmgH)(2)Py and Co-1(dpgH)(2)Py, generated in situ, by the NaBH4 reduction of ClCo(dmgH)(2)Py and ClCo(dpgH)(2)Py. • Molecular Oxygen Insertion in Benzylcobaloximes with Mixed Dioximes

  The complexes ArCH2CO(gH)(dpgH)Py have been synthesized and characterized by NMR. Molecular oxygen insertion into the Co-C bond in ArCH2CO(L)(dpgH)Py (L = gH, dmgH, chgH) complexes under photochemical conditions forms a mixture of products within 5 min. The equilibration/decomposition of ArCH2Co(L)(dpgH)Py to the corresponding ArCH2Co(L)(2)Py and ArCH2Co(dpgH)(2)Py complexes and molecular oxygen insertion starts immediately and simultaneously. The ratio of these products changes with time, and finally ArCH2(O-2)Co(L)(dpgH)Py and ArCH2(O-2)Co(dpgH)(2)Py are the major products formed. The spectral data are interrelated, and a good correlation is found between Delta delta(1)(H)(Py-alpha) and delta(13C)(C=N-gH) or delta(13C)(C=N-dpgH), indicating ring current throughout the metallabicycle. The CV data show that the dioxy complex is easier to reduce than the parent complex. The molecular structure of 4-Cl-C6H4CH2Co(dpgH)(gH)Py has been reported.
