Traces of 2-methyl-4-hydroxy-17β-acetoxy-Δ1;3,5,10-estratriene have also been isolated. Acid-catalysed dienone-phenol rearrangement of 1 yields a phenol (6) of the same structure type as the major photoproduct 2.
