thus overcoming a very high passivation. Diarylacetylenes led mainly to 1,2-diaroyl-1,2-dialyl-ethylenes. Anodic oxidation of conjugated diaryldiacetylenes, at the same anode, led to a mixture of acetylenic α- and γ -diketones. This represents the very first synthesis of acetylenicα-diketones ArCOCOCCAr.

Diarylacetylenes led to 1,2-diaroyl-1,2-diarylethylenes and diaryldiacetylenes led to a mixture of acetylenic α-and γ-diketones, by anodic oxidation in MeCN–LiClO4 on a graphite plate electrode.
An efficient synthesis of 3,6-disubstituted-4-aroyl-2-pyrones in a single-step reaction through Michael addition of 1,2-diaroylacetylenes with active methylene compounds in the presence of NaH in dimethylsulfoxide at room temperature is reported. The structures have been confirmed by spectral data analyses.

Several di- and triarylfuran derivatives were prepared in high yields from but-2-ene-1,4-diones/but-2-yne-1,4-diones using formic acid in the presence of a catalytic amount of palladium on carbon and in poly(ethylene glycol)200 medium in a one-pot operation under microwave irradiation (1-5 min).
