    An antimicrobial latex composition is disclosed. The antimicrobial latex composition comprises (1) at least one cationic latex component selected from a cationic natural rubber latex and a cationic synthetic polymer latex and (2) a cationic antimicrobial agent incorporated in said cationic latex (1). The resulting composition is antimicrobial latex compositions suitable for use in the manufacture of medical devices and appliances, sanitary products, equipment and furnishings for use in food manufacture and processing, and so forth, in particular antimicrobial latex compositions retaining good stability over a long period of storage.

    A superconducting magnet coil contains a coil of superconducting wire (2) and a cured product (3) of a curable resin composition with which the coil has been impregnated, the cured product having a thermal shrinkage factor of 1.5-0.3%, preferably 1.0-0.3%, when cooled from the glass transition temperature to 4.2 K, a bend-breaking strain of 2.9-3.9%, preferably 3.2-3.9%, at 4.2 K and a modulus of 500-1,000 kg/mm² at 4.2 K, or undergoing a thermal stress of 0-10 kg/mm² when cooled from the glass transition temperature to 4.2 K and resisting to quench during superconducting operation. It is produced by winding a superconducting wire (2) to form a coil; impregnating the coil with a curable resin composition of low viscosity which contains for example at least one epoxy resin selected from the group consisting of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A, diglycidyl ether of bisphenol F and diglycidyl ether of bisphenol AF, all having a number-average molecular weight of 350-1,000, a flexibilizer and a curing catalyst, to obtain a curable-resin composition-impregnated coil; and heating the curable-resin-composition-impregnated coil to cure the composition.

    A superconducting magnet coil, an insulating layer, and a superconducting magnet which do not generate quenching under cooled and operational conditions are provided by using a fixing resin (2) capable of suppressing microcrack generation in a resin layer which causes quenching. A superconducting magnet coil manufactured by winding a superconducting wire (3) and fixing the wire with resin (2) and a method for manufacturing thereof, wherein said resin (2) is a low cooling restricted thermal stress and high toughness fixing resin having a release rate of elastic energy GIC at 4.2 K of at least 250J·m⁻², and/or a stress intensity factor KIC of at least 1.5 MPa·√m, and/or a stress safety factor at 4.2 K of at least 3, and an allowable defect size at least of 0.3 mm. The superconducting magnet coil manufactured in accordance with the present invention does not cause quenching because microcracks are not generated in said resin (2) when the coil is cooled to the liquid helium temperature, i.e. 4.2 K, and under an operational condition.

    A method for the formation of a silica film which comprises treating a film in a supercritical medium, the film comprising (A) a siloxane compound and (B) at least one member selected from the group consisting of (B-1) a compound compatible with or dispersible in ingredient (A) and having a boiling or decomposition temperature of from 150 to 500°C and (B-2) a surfactant. The silica film has excellent mechanical strength showing a dielectric constant of generally 2.2 or lower, and hence is useful as a dielectric film in semiconductor devices and the like.

    The purpose of the present invention to provide: a composition which can be used for water-repellent treating of the entire surface of a semiconductor substrate having a pattern formed by laminating a Si-containing insulating layer and a metal layer, at one time; and a method for water-repellent treatment of the semiconductor substrate surface using the composition. The present invention relates to: (1) a composition for water-repellent treatment of a semiconductor substrate surface comprising a) at least one kind of a compound selected from the group consisting of a long-chain alkyl tertiary amine and a long-chain alkyl ammonium salt, b) a base or an acid generating agent, having a condensed ring structure or forming a condensed ring structure by generating a base or an acid and c) a polar organic solvent, and (2) a method for water-repellent treatment of the semiconductor substrate surface having the pattern formed by laminating the Si-containing insulating layer and the metal layer, using the composition.
