  Adducts of certain trihaloacyl aromatic monomers are described made which are, in themselves, monomers for the preparation of polyesters and poly­amides. Such polymers have easier processability than those made with the uncoupled precursor monomers. The monoacylated compound is coupled by reacting with a aldehyde or ketone in the presence of an acid catalyst.
