Enantioselective oxidative-coupling of polycyclic phenols, such as 2-anthracenol, 9- or 3-phenanthrol, and 5-chrysenol was established by using vanadium(V/IV) catalysis under air or 02 as a co-oxidant. The present invention relates to a composition comprising an aromatic compound having high heat- and chemical-resistance and a method for preparing a protective thin film using same. The protective thin film prepared from the inventive composition is capable of maintaining its physical shape with no thermal deformation even when exposed to high heat of 300C or greater, shows excellent chemical resistance against an acid, a base or an organic solvent, and maintains the shape of an exposed surface during plasma treatment, thereby effectively functioning as a protective thin film for the protection of an underlying material.
MnI<sub>2</sub>-catalyzed Dimerization of 2-Hydroxyanthracene
Dimerization of 2-hydroxyanthracene was investigated with 5 mol % of various catalysts that are efficient catalysts for the dimerization of 2-naphthol. Catalysts such as Cu(OH)Cl·TMEDA, [Mn(acac)3], and [Mn(acac)2] did not give satisfactory results. However, MnI2, which gave only trace amounts of dimerization product of 2-naphthol under the same conditions, afforded 2,2′-dihydroxy-1,1′-bianthracene in 74% yield.
Described are bis(perfluoro-n-alkane-sulfonate) compounds, methods for preparing these compounds and use of these compounds, for example as starting materials for the synthesis of chiral and phosphine ligands for transition metal catalysts.
