    Facile Synthesis of Effcient and Selective Ruthenium Olefin Metathesis Catalysts with Sulfonate and Phosphate Ligands
    摘要:
    A series of novel, air-stable ruthenium NHC catalysts with sulfonate and phosphate anions have been prepared easily in one pot at high yields using commercially available precursors. The catalysts were found to be effective for ring-opening metathesis polymerization, ring-closing metathesis, and cross-metathesis. The catalysts showed higher cis-selectivity in olefin cross-metathesis reactions as compared to earlier known ruthenium-based olefin metathesis catalysts, with allylbenzene and cis-1,4-diacetoxybutene as substrates.

    Many 1-substituted 2-alkanone derivatives were synthesized and their inhibitory activities toward pancreatic lipase and esterase were examined in order to obtain hypolipidemic agents. 1-Benzenesulfonyloxy-2-pentanone (VI-2a) and 1-(2, 4, 6-trimethylbenzenesulfonyloxy)-2-pentanone (VI-2q) exhibited not only potent and selective esterase inhibitions (IC50 : 9.0×10-7M and 1.0×10-6M, respectively), but also potent hypolipidemic action (90 and 92% reductions of plasma triglyceride, and 53 and 90% reductions of plasma total cholesterol, respectively). A novel working hypothesis is presented to account for the lowering of the plasma lipids level, i.e., that inhibition of esterase and lipase activities in the small intestinal lumen may be responsible for the decrease in the plasma lipids level.

    This way and that: Ruthenium complexes with asymmetric bidentate phosphine ligands bearing two substituents that differ in size (green spheres) produce a totally alternating copolymer of norbornene and cyclooctene by ring‐opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP). The E/Z ratio can be influenced systematically by changing the bulkiness of the aryl sulfonate ligand (blue rectangles).

    The catalyst for olefin polymerization of the present invention contains R.sub.k.sup.1 R.sub.l.sup.2 R.sub.m.sup.3 M(SO.sub.3 R.sup.4) (M=Zr, Ti or Hf; R.sup.1-3 =a group having a cyclopentadienyl skeleton) as a catalyst component of a transition metal compound. According to the catalyst of the invention, an olefin polymer having excellent particle properties can be prepared with high polymerization activities, and further a copolymer having a narrow composition distribution can be prepared when two or more monomers are copolymerized. When the quinolinium-derived crystals according to the present invention are applied to THz wave light sources, higher THz wave generating efficiency may be obtained as compared with inorganic crystals or existing organic M crystals.

    A catalyst for use in the polymerization of at least one olefin comprising [A] a catalyst component comprising a compound of a transition metal of Group IVB of the Periodic Table having a ligand containing a -SO₃R group wherein R is an alkyl group, an alkyl group substituted with a halogen atom, an aryl group, or an aryl group substituted with a halogen atom or an alkyl group, and a ligand having a cyclopentadienyl skeleton, and [B] an organoaluminum oxy-compound. This provides an olefin polymer having excellent particle properties at high polymerization activities, and enables the production of a copolymer having a narrow composition distribution. The transition metal compound preferably is a novel compound of the formula (Cp is a group having a cyclopentadienyl skeleton, R is an optionally substituted alkyl or aryl group, and X is SO₃R, a halogen atom, R, OR, NRn, S(O)qR, SiR₃ or P(O)qR₃, wherein n = 1, 2 or 3; q = 0, 1 or 2).
