This object is met by a detergent composition comprising at least one surfactant having the general formula [R1O(CH2CH2O)x(CH2CH2CH2O)y]nZ wherein R1 refers to a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 6 to 30 carbon atoms, preferably 8 to 24 carbon atoms, x is an integer from 6 to 200, y is 0 or an integer of less than 100 and x+y is less than 200, Z is a complexing group, derived from phosphoric compounds, phosphonates, sulphonic compounds, sulphonates, or amino polycarboxylic acids and n is 1,2 or 3 for respectively a mono-ester, a di-ester or a tri-ester.
