The synthesis of multi-substituted 2-iminopyridines by conjugate addition of ethyl cyanoacetate derivatives to alkynyl imines has been developed. The reaction of ethyl cyanoacetate derivatives with alkynyl imines provided multi-substituted 2-iminopyridines in good yields.
