A simple and effective method for the synthesis of N,N-dichloroamines from primary amines was conducted successfully with m-CPBA as oxidant and FeCl3 as chlorine source at 0 °C. Moreover, N,N-dichloroamines could be converted into nitriles or N-chloroimines in good yields.

efficient, metal- and solvent-free oxidation of primaryamines to aldehydes, ketones and nitrilesunder ball-milling conditions is presented. This method has proved to be compatible with various functional groups and requires easily accessible starting materials. Simple filtration of the reaction mixture through a pad of silica gel affords pure aldehydes, ketones and nitriles products.
