The protected bis(hydroxyorganyl) polysulfides synthesized have been tested as modifiers of electrolyte of lithium-sulfur rechargeable batteries. The best result (35% increase of the battery capacity at the 50th cycle) was attained using 5 wt.% of 2,2,12,12-tetramethyl-4,10-diphenyl-3,11-dioxa-6,7,8-trithia-2,12-disilatridecane. Bis(hydroxyorganyl) polysulfides protected at the hydroxyl group have been synthesized for the first time by the reaction of oxiranes with sodium polysulfide (ethanol. NaHCO(3), 12h, 20-25 degrees C) in yield 21-87%. For the hydroxyl protection in the hydroxy polysulfides, the acetal, tri(methyl)silyloxy or tri(ethoxy)silyl protecting groups were employed. The present invention concerns polymers obtained by anionic initiation and bearing functions that can be activated by cationic initiations that are not reactive in the presence of anionic polymerization initiators. The presence of such cationic initiation functions allow an efficient cross-linking of the polymer after moulding, particularly in the form of a thin film. It is thus possible to obtain polymers with well-defined properties in terms of molecular weight and cross-linking density. The polymers of the present invention are capable of dissolving ionic compounds inducing a conductivity for the preparation of solid electrolytes.

La présente invention concerne des polymères obtenus par amorçage anionique et portant des fonctions pouvant être activées par amorçage cationique qui ne sont pas réactives en présence de réactifs amorçant les polymérisations anioniques. La présence de telles fonctions à amorce cationique permettent une réticulation efficace du polymère après mise en forme, ou en particulier sous forme de film mince. Il est ainsi possible d'obtenir des polymères possédant des propriétés très bien définies, en termes masse moléculaire et densité de réticulation. Les polymères de l'invention sont capables de dissoudre des composés ioniques induisant une conductivité, pour la préparation d'électrolytes.
