A variety of novel 2-, 4-, and 5-substituted 6-chloronicotine and 4-substituted 5-chloronicotine derivatives have been synthesized in a regioselective manner in moderate to high yield from (S)-6-chloronicotine and (S)-5-chloronicotine, respectively.
