A colloidal dispersion of hydrous antimony pentoxide particles is made by a process which comprises introducing a particulate antimony component selected from the group consisting of antimony metal and antimony trioxide into an essentially aqueous medium and contacting said antimony component with hydrogen peroxide at a temperature of from about 0.degree.
