Ab initio calculations show that the ketohydrazone tautomer is really very much favoured over its proton-transfer products in chloroform solution.   Abstract Three carbazole alkaloids, glycozolicine, 3-formyl carbazole and glycosinine, have been isolated from the roots of Glycosmis pentaphylla . The structures of glycozolicine and glycosinine have been established as 5-methoxy-3-methyl carbazole and 2-methoxy-3-formyl carbazole, respectively, from physical and chemical evidence, and synthesis.

  A new pigment, volucrisporin, has been isolated from shaken cultures of the Hyphomycete Volucrisporaaurantiaca Haskins, and characterized as 2,5-(m-hydroxyphenyl)-1,4-benzoquinone. The structure has been confirmed by synthesis of the dimethyl ether.
